All UK cars that are 3 years old and over require a valid MOT certificate to be used on the road by law. These must be renewed each year to prove the car is roadworthy to the legal minimum requirements.
MOT tests can be carried out on your car up to one month prior to the expiry date of an existing MOT. The current MOT certificate must be presented to the examiner at the time of the test.
After passing the MOT test, the vehicle will receive a certificate valid from the date of expiry of your existing MOT certificate
